OCETFO Teachers rallied outside the Ottawa Convention Centre in December 2012, where Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty was attending an event. The rally was to protest cuts and demonstrated solidarity against austerity. OCETF worked in partnership with other organizations, including ACORN to deliver a strong message to the Premier.

Teachers of the Ottawa-Carleton Elementary Teachers’ Federation carried picket signs outside Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty's office to protest to Ontario's Bill 115 on Dec. 12, 2012.

Most recently on April 20, 2016, ETFO, along with other education unions has won a major victory at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The Court has found that Bill C115, imposed in the fall of 2012 was a violation of the collective bargaining rights of education unions. “Ontario ran over the rights of the employees”.
